SoCalATA Membership Categories & Benefits

Thank you for your interest in joining the Southern California chapter of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA).  Here you will find a community of dedicated professionals.  For all categories of professional membership, you are required to be a member of the  AATA in order to join our chapter.  If you wish to join SoCalATA please  click here  to submit your dues through the AATA website.  

Credentialed Professional Member  $30 
American Art Therapy Association (AATA) members who maintain current registration (ATR) and/or certification (ATR-BC) through the Art Therapy Credentials Board, inc. (ATCB). Credentialed professional members are eligible to vote, hold office and serve on committees. 

Professional  Member  $30 
AATA members who have completed graduate level training in art therapy.  Professional Membership includes those who maintain current registration (ATR) and/or certification (ATR-BC) through the ARt Therapy Credentials Board, inc. (ATCB). Professional members are eligible to vote, hold office, and serve on committees. 

New Professional Member  $25 
AATA members who have completed graduate level training in art therapy are eligible for one year (12 months) only. New professional members are eligible to vote, and serve on committees, but cannot hold office. 

Student  Member   $25 
Individuals who do not meet the qualifications for professional membership and who are currently enrolled in a masters level  art therapy program at an institution of higher learning.  Student members are eligible to serve on committees but are not eligible to vote or hold office.  

Retired Professional Member   $25  
AATA members, 65 and older, who are no longer engaged in the active practice of art therapy. Retired professional members are eligible to vote, hold office and serve on committees.   

Honorary Life Member (HLM)  Exempt
Credentialed Professional or Professional Members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of art therapy and who have been acknowledged by having been awarded SoCalATA and/or AATA’s highest honor (HLM) through selection by the respective Honors Committee(s).  HLM Members are eligible to vote, hold office, and serve on committees.  HLM’s are exempt from payment of annual SoCalATA dues.

Friend of SoCalATA  $30  Join Here

Individuals interested in art therapy who wish to support the mission and objectives of the chapter. Students, individuals who have completed art therapy education programs, or are working art therapist are not eligible for membership at the Friend level.  Friend level members are not eligible to vote or hold office but may serve on designated committees and attend meetings.

Institutional Member  $130  Join Here

Organizations and Educational Institutions that wish to support the mission and objectives of the chapter. Representatives of the Institution or Organization are not eligible to vote or hold office but may serve on designated committees and attend meetings.

International Member $30  Join Here
Individuals living outside the United States who are working in the field of art therapy or are interested in art therapy and who wish to support the mission and objectives of the chapter. International members are not eligible to vote or hold office but may serve on committees and attend meetings. International members who move to the United States to practice art therapy should contact the AATA to update thier membership category as appropriate.
