Who Should Attend?

Clinicians who want to gain an understanding of how to implement therapeutic doll-making techniques with clients. Art Therapists, LMFTs, LCSWs, and LPCCs are eligible to earn CEUs.

CEU Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Increase knowledge of when and how to use therapeutic doll making with clients as an intervention.
  • Identify and explain 4 benefits of therapeutic doll making. 
  •  Explore 3 different techniques for therapeutic doll making.

Experiential Component

Participants will create specific art tasks in a setting designed to simulate outpatient therapy group in early recovery. As the simple tasks designed to evoke specific therapeutic goals evolve, relevance to early recovery addiction treatment principles will be explored.


About Alexia

Alexia Kutzner, DAT, M.F.A, M.A, LMFT, ATR-BC, received her first Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from California State University Long Beach in 2001.  She received her second Master’s Degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Loyola Marymount University with an emphasis in art therapy.  Since 2011, she has specialized working with teenagers and adults with an autism spectrum disorder and depression/anxiety disorder. In 2017 Ms. Kutzner received her art therapy board certification.  She received her doctor of art therapy degree in 2020 from Mount Mary University in Wisconsin.   

Her passion is to combine art therapy and behavior therapy in her work with clients.  She continues to be an art therapy supervisor in private practice and at Loyola Marymount University.  She has extensive experience working with substance abuse and eating disorders.  She also has experience providing couples therapy and working with clients with anxiety and depression.  

Course Credit: 3 CEUs

9:00 am | Introduction, PowerPoint Presentation about uses of therapeutic doll making in different clinical settings

9:45am | Explanation of how to make 2 different dolls with clients

10:00am | Experiential: Doll of professional self during COVID-19 

11:30am | Sharing of experiential and integrative learning (Q&A)


Location:

This event will be distance learning and facilitated via ZOOM. Link to the workshop will be sent to all registrants. Please sign in promptly at 8:45 am to ensure you are registered to receive your CEU certificate and get assistance with any technical issues.

Fee: $35 for SoCalATA Members, $45 for Non-Members, $25 Students

ALL MATERIALS will be mailed to registrants prior to this event! 


*This instruction will begin promptly at 9:00AM. 

The Course meets the qualifications for 3 hours of continuing education credit for ATRs, LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. 

The course completion certificate will be awarded at the end of the meeting to registered attendees who finish the complete course.
