Art-based Supervision: Deepening the Discourse

Summary: Art-based supervision employs response art as an important tool to explore and conceptualize treatment. When images are made as part of supervision, they help to contain material from session, supporting focused discussion of the content. Images also provide a focus for further exploration and reflection over time as well as supporting effective communication about therapy. This workshop provides participants didactic and experiential opportunities to introduce and deepen understanding of the use of art-based supervision. The workshop begins with a description and examples of the use of response art. This is followed by image making and discussion of the artwork created. The workshop will conclude with group discussion and further questions.
