SoCalATA Committee Descriptions 



Membership Committee: The Membership Committee maintains the membership roster, membership directory, and supervisor directory; provides outreach to local students, art therapists, and AATA members living in SoCalATA's geographic area who are not current members; supports member gatherings and events to promote connectivity among members; identifies and works with the board to bolster and maintain member benefits.

Multi-cultural Committee: The Multicultural Committee provides valuable input to the Board of Directors on issues of diversity; develops continuing education experiences to enhance members’ cultural competencies; and engages in fund raising activities to support the award of scholarships and grants.

 

Program CommitteeThe Program Committee plans several SoCalATA sponsored networking and educational events annually and is responsible for securing a presenter(s) and location, publicity, registration. The Committee strives to locate events in all geographic areas of the Association. The Committee reviews the content of educational programs and oversees the awarding of Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) where appropriate.

 

Ethics Committee: The Ethics Committee ensures that the Ethical Principles for Art Therapists of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) and the Code Ethics, Conduct, and Disciplinary Procedures of the Art Therapy Credential Board (ATCB) (where applicable) are available to each member and to the public upon request. The Committee will refer suspected ethics violations to AATA and/or ATCB for review and processing.

 

Governmental Affairs Committee: The GAC maintains up-to-date information on California State laws and regulations relevant to the practice as well as current legislative initiatives that might promote and/or advance the profession. The Committee is responsible for making timely alerts to the membership regarding legislative matters. Likewise, the Committee keeps abreast of relevant federal laws and regulations through an active liaison relationship with the AATA GAC.

 

Public Relations Committee:  The Public Relations Committee is responsible for the dissemination of Board of Directors approved information about SoCalATA; marketing and publicizing professional training programs for CEU’s, meetings, and the profession of art therapy to:  consumers, institutes and agencies, SoCalATA members, nonmember professionals and students. The Committee develops marketing tools and presentations about SoCalATA and the professions of art therapy for review and consideration by the Board of Directors.

 

Honors Committee: The Honors Committee identifies outstanding members of the Association for recognition in the category of Honorary Life Member and other honors and awards as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors.

 

Fundraising Committee: The Fundraising Committee develops avenues for soliciting donations, grants and corporate sponsorship to fund SoCalATA programs, projects and research. In collaboration with the Program Committee plans fundraising events.
