Celebrating Black History

"...yes we are far from polished

far from pristine

but that doesn't mean we are

striving to form a union that is perfect

We are striving to forge a union with purpose

To compose a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters and

conditions of man

And so we lift our gazes not to what stands between us

but what stands before us"

-Amanda Gorman (2021)

This Black History Month let's be mindful to celebrate the contributions of African Americans that is often omitted from our texts and our tongues, all 365 days of the year, while continuing the work that must be done to combat the systemic racism, oppression, and violence against African Americans in our country to achieve true justice.
